The Greater Good: Simple as U.W.A.S.
#1: Supporting local children's charities. Our community outreach mission at the Muddy Patriot is to raise money for organizations that are making lives better for the youth of the greater Kalamazoo area. From crisis intervention with abused children and homeless teens to improving the well-being of sick children, The Ark , Services for Youth, Bronson Children's Hospital, and Safe Harbor, Children's Advocacy Center, are doing amazing things to make the lives of children better. Click on the Logos below to learn more. The Muddy Patriot has pledged to donate a percentage of the proceeds from this event to these charitable organizations. You can make a difference by making a charitable donation to one or all three of these great organizations during the registration process.
We believe that if a person sees themselves as a productive, successful member of the community, they will act in such a manner. We are working to shine the light on opportunities that will help these children find a positive direction in which to run.
#2: Buy American. A major reason why America has lost so many jobs is that many of the products Americans purchase are not made in our country. Roughly 70% of the American economy is based on consumer spending. The less we import and the more American made goods we consume, the better the American economy. We feel that once Americans become aware of the importance of buying American made goods they will make the choice that helps keep America strong. Millions of our brothers and sisters have made serious sacrifices to defend our freedoms over the last 237 years. Some have died for our country or have come back home with significant disabilities, forever changing the lives of their families. For Americans to continue buying goods manufactured in foreign countries the way we have been jeopardizes our country's security and prosperity.
The Muddy Patriot is creating awareness about how powerful "patriotic shopping" can be. It will take some extra time and effort, some sacrifice, to make the patriotic choice. This idea of sacrifice is what made America strong. This simple decision will help to ensure the United States of America remains a prosperous and vibrant society for our children to raise their children.
